The celebrations included the delivery of MSC World America, a coin ceremony for MSC World Asia, and the cutting of the first steel for MSC World Atlantic.

Founder and Group Chairman of MSC, Captain Gianluigi Aponte, and Executive Chairman of MSC Group’s Cruise Division, Laurent Castaing, were among the cruise line executives who joined the event.

The French Minister for Industry and Energy, Marc Ferracci, along with shipyard workers and MSC’s newbuild team, were also present.

Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Group’s Cruise Division, declared, “Together, we continue to push boundaries, combining cutting-edge design, the latest technologies, and a richness of experiences to set new standards in cruising and always striving to further improve the environmental performance of each ship. We look forward to raising the bar even higher with the upcoming MSC World Asia and MSC World Atlantic.”

MSC World America, the 23rd vessel in the MSC fleet, is the second World-class cruise ship.

It boasts amenities and venues that cater to North American guests, such as the Cliffhanger, an overwater swing ride, a LEGO-inspired interactive area, and the first Eataly restaurant at sea.

The 6,762-passenger vessel will be christened at PortMiami on April 9 and enter service on April 12. It will offer weeklong Eastern Caribbean sailings.

As one of the most environmentally friendly ships, it boasts LNG-powered engines, shore power capabilities, and an innovative wastewater treatment system.

Blessings and Good Fortune for MSC World Asia

The Swiss-Italian cruise line’s second celebration honored the construction of sister ship MSC World Asia, scheduled for delivery in late 2026.

Godmothers Marialuisa Iaccarino, the Shore Excursions VP for MSC, and Flavie Biondo, Chargé d’affaires for Chantiers de l’Atlantique, placed coins inside the ship’s hull, wishing blessings and good fortune on the Mediterranean-bound vessel as construction progresses.

Construction Begins for MSC World Atlantic

MSC Cruises wrapped up the event with a steel-cutting ceremony, marking the start of construction on its fourth World-class ship.

The vessel’s name, MSC World Atlantic, was officially revealed during the ceremony.

MSC World Atlantic will take guests from Port Canaveral to the Caribbean beginning in winter 2027.

After MSC World Europa’s introduction, the World-class ships have become known for their award-winning design, state-of-the-art amenities, and sustainable innovations.

Bureau Veritas has recognized the flagship and MSC World America for their energy efficiency, health and safety practices, and eco-friendly operations.
