Carnival Rebrands P&O Ships with New Fun Ship Features for Australia Relaunch

By Cruise Radio

Earlier this year, Carnival Cruise Line announced that Pacific Encounter and Pacific Adventure, two ships from the P&O Australia phase-out, would join the Carnival fleet. New details about the transition and what guests can expect are emerging.

Though they will be rebranded to Carnival Encounter and Carnival Adventure by March 2025, the cruise operator assured they’ll be better than ever as part of the Fun Ship fleet. They will also retain many of the amenities that they’ve become known for.

Carnival’s VP for Sales and Marketing, Kara Glamore, declared, “This transition presents a unique opportunity to combine the best of P&O Cruises Australia and Carnival Cruise Line as the brand expands its footprint in Australia.”

VP Guest Experience Deborah Cogin added, “P&O fans will recognize many of their favorite dining and entertainment options while experiencing the added fun and flair that Carnival is famous for around the world.”

Cruisers can still expect the vessels to offer classic P&O venues, including the exclusive Byron Beach Club and the adrenaline-pumping Edge Adventure Park. Meanwhile, favorite dining options such as Dragon Lady, Angelo’s, and Luke’s Bar & Grill will continue serving hungry guests.

What’s New?

There are also a few new experiences to look forward to:

  • Carnival’s Fun Squad will host a wide range of special onboard activities like comedy shows, deck parties, and trivia games.
  • The Turtles Kids Club will offer professional childcare services for toddlers under two.
  • Free Daily Pizza will be served every day from 11 a.m. to 4 pm.

Other child-friendly activities include the Conga for Kids dance party, 80s Rock and Glow nights, and Build-A-Bear workshops.

Preparing for a 2025 Australia Relaunch

The two vessels will homeport from Australia, where Carnival expects close to 600,000 guests next year.

Carnival Encounter will sail from Brisbane throughout the year and will be joined by Carnival Luminosa in the summer.

Meanwhile, Carnival Adventure will host year-round voyages from Sydney and Carnival Splendor.

However, not all P&O ships will join the Carnival fleet—Pacific Explorer will leave the company in February 2025.

These changes are designed to streamline operations and reduce costs, enhancing Carnival’s presence in the South Pacific.
